Counselor Training Workshop in Therapeutic Guided Imagery

The power of imagination to influence our health is a vital human resource that we can learn and pass on to others.

In this workshop participants will have the opportunity to learn how therapeutic guided imagery can be utilized in the counseling relationship. The principles and practices of guided imagery will be discussed and demonstrated. Each person will have the opportunity to learn several imagery applications utilized at various stages of the counseling process.

Experiential activities will allow participants to explore guided imagery as it relates to their own life experience. As well, an educational approach involving a practicum in therapeutic guided imagery with clients will be taught.

In this workshop participants will learn how to:

  • apply guided imagery in their own life
  • use breathing and relaxation to help cope with stressful life events
  • how to access images related to safety, symptoms, coping and healing and optimal health
  • use basic guided imagery techniques at various stages of the counseling relationship
  • integrate imagery with other human experience modalities such as, beliefs, emotions, kinesthetics, relationships and behaviors
