Practices of Health and Stress Management in Dentistry

During this professional training workshop participants will learn principles and practices of stress management and health enhancement. A variety of methods to understand the effects of stress in personal and professional life will be taught using an experiential and discussion format.

Awareness of mind-body modalities such as imagery, beliefs, emotions, kinesthetics, social support and behaviors in stress management and health enhancement will be introduced. Practitioners will explore how to apply these principles in their own life and thereby enhance the quality of service with their patients.

As well, applications of stress management for dental patients will be discussed. A support program designed to help dental patients deal with mental, emotional and somatic stress as it relates to symptoms appearing within dental practice will be envisioned.

This workshop is done in private consultation with the Millwoods Dental Clinic. Similar professional workshops can be developed for other health practitioners dealing with issues of stress, stress related illnesses, chronic pain and health enhancement.
