Educational and Therapeutic Approach
I utilize a health psychology perspective that adopts a model of stress
resiliency, health promotion and disease prevention. This model focuses
on psychoeducational and short term interventions to teach people how
to become more active and effective agents in their own health promotion
and healing processes. Four basic principles that are the foundation of
health psychology (Hafen et al.,) are employed:
- gaining a personal sense of empowerment and control
- developing a sense of connectedness and acceptance (socially/spiritually)
- discovering a sense of purpose and meaning
- generating a sense of optimism and hope
These processes are engaged in a combination of psychoeducational and
therapeutic/healing formats designed to help clients experience the support
that enables them to make the cognitive/social /affective, behavioral
and spiritual changes that result in personal well being and successful
living.
Therapeutic Model
Therapeutic interventions utilizing integrative imagery based paradigm
that is efficient and effective at promoting change and personal empowerment.
Supervision and development of therapeutic effectiveness through modeling
and mentoring the therapeutic process for therapists in training or practice.
