Training Workshop in Treatment and Recovery Approaches for Dealing With
Stress Related Illnesses and Chronic Pain

In this workshop we will examine the relationships between
stress, illness and chronic pain. An overview of the nature of stress
and the mental and emotional basis of illness will be presented. An emphasis
on the emotional dimensions of illness will be discussed. Approaches for
dealing with historical trauma and current stress will be taught
An integrated system of working with six modalities related
to health and wellness will be incorporated with a primary focus on imagery
based paradigm of healing and recovery. Healing methods that focus on
developing stress resiliency, vitality and increased energy will be developed
utilizing an experiential format.
Participants will be encouraged share their experience
during the workshop. Applications and transfer of knowledge to clients
will be discussed.
In this workshop participants will have the opportunity to learn:
- about the relationship of stress, illness and chronic pain
- nature of stress and the stress response
- nature of the relaxation response
- emotional and somatic aspects of trauma, stress and chronic pain and
stress related illnesses
- principles of resiliency and vitality
- applications of guided imagery and five other modalities for promoting
recovery and health.
